Easter Message — In The Awake Voice

Today we remember a simple but powerful truth.

Faith was never meant to be owned by institutions, controlled by titles, or manipulated by those who profit from the devotion of others.

Faith was meant to be lived.

This is my voice. This is my belief.

Easter reminds us that sacrifice, humility, and love are stronger than fear, power, or deception. It reminds us that the resurrection story is not only about a moment in history—it is about the courage to live with truth, compassion, and conviction in our everyday lives.

So as you celebrate today with family and loved ones, pause for a moment and reflect.

Let your heart be filled with gratitude.
Let your home be filled with peace.
Let your table be filled with laughter.

But more importantly, let your spirit be guided by something deeper.

Do not surrender your faith to those who turn devotion into control or spirituality into performance. Your relationship with God was never meant to pass through the hands of men who use belief as a tool for power.

It was meant to live in your heart.

Easter calls us back to the essence of faith:
to love our neighbors,
to lift those who are struggling,
to walk with humility,
and to live with integrity even when the world rewards the opposite.

So today, as you celebrate, remember this:

Be kind to the person next door.
Be patient with the person who is struggling.
Be generous where the world has become selfish.

Because resurrection is not only something we remember.

It is something we live.

May your homes be filled with joy.
May your hearts be strengthened with hope.
May your faith be guided by truth rather than fear.

And may this Easter remind us all that the most powerful form of worship is not performance in public, but goodness practiced quietly in everyday life.

Happy Easter to you and your families.

Youth in Nigeria: Agitations, Accountability, and the Urgent Need for Strategic Rethinking

Youth in Nigeria: Agitations, Accountability, and the Urgent Need for Strategic Rethinking Author: Dr. Nana Akaeze and Dr. Christian O. Akaeze Abstract Nigerian youths have become more vocal and active in recent years. They now use social media and other platforms to speak up against bad leadership and failed systems. This is a positive change because many generations before now remained silent. However, some of today’s youths are taking the wrong path. Instead of promoting unity, they are spreading hate, division, tribalism, and even violence. Some are now calling for the breakup of Nigeria, believing that forming new nations will solve our problems. This article explains why that approach is harmful and how a better solution is to adopt regional governance within a united Nigeria. It also highlights how youths must take responsibility, embrace peaceful and innovative strategies, and focus on building a better country for all. Introduction: Youths Are Now Speaking Up ...

Rethinking Confraternities Within Higher Institutions in Nigeria: A Case for Registration, Reform, and National Unity

By Dr. Nana Akaeze and Dr. Chris Akaeze A Joint Reflection for The Awake Voice Date: June 1 st , 2025 Abstract Confraternities in Nigerian tertiary institutions are commonly associated with violence and secrecy, overshadowing their origins in civic activism, academic excellence, and brotherhood. This perspective challenges prevailing narratives by arguing for a shift from suppression to structured reform and engagement. Drawing from the historical evolution of groups like the Pyrates and Buccaneers Confraternities, the study highlights their civic roles in youth mentorship, health outreach, and interethnic solidarity. In an era marked by ethnic tension, misinformation, and digital radicalization, the loyalty frameworks within these groups have helped mitigate tribal conflicts and maintain democratic stability. This perspective proposes policy responses, including government regulation, civic reorientation, and the establishment of oversight mechanisms. If reformed and in...

WHEN SILENCE BECOMES A DANGER

WHEN SILENCE BECOMES A DANGER: By Dr. Nana Akaeze | Dr. Chris Akaeze TO PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU ON NIGERIA’S RISING INSECURITY By Dr. Nana Akaeze | The Awake Voice This is my voice. This is my belief. Because leadership is not applause—it is responsibility. Because a government that cannot protect its people is a government standing on a cracked foundation. Because silence in the face of rising bloodshed is not diplomacy—it is abandonment. Nigeria is blee--ding again loudly and the silence from those in power is deafening. A Major General was abducted and later confirmed dead. Citizens are being unalived in their homes, on the highways, in their farms, and in their communities. Bandits have turned Nigerian forests into kingdoms and citizens into prey. Children wake up to gunshots and go to bed with fear as their lullaby. And yet… Where is the government’s voice? Where is the national address? Where is the comfort for the grieving family of the General? Where is the outrage for ...
